If you are a football fan in Texas and don't follow high school football, then you are missing out some amazing football. I can understand this a little if you came from a high school that had a horrible football team. But other than that you have no excuse.
Euless Trinity is on the road to another 5A State Title. If they achieve this goal, and they will, it would be their third in four years. This is what we like to call a dynasty. Trinity has been the team to beat, and no one has accomplished this goal since September 2007.
This week is the Region I final. Euless Trinity v. Allen. Another rematch in the post-season. Last year it was Trinity v. Odessa Permian, we all know how that ended. Allen has revenge on it's mind and will do everything that it can to put the hurt on Trinity. The only lose that Allen had during the regular season came at the hands of the mighty Trojans.
However, Allen is a very different team at this point in the season and will be better prepared to stop the Trinity run game than previously. They will be without their starting quarterback Matt Brown. Tucker Carter, who lead Allen past a good Odessa Permian team, will be in his place. This gives an edge to Trinity.
If Allen wants to pull out a win they will need to shut down both the run and spread game of the Trinity offense. Plano was able to stop the run, but was not ready for the spread package that Trinity had to offer.
For Trinity to win they need to keep on keeping on. Their formula is working well in the era of the Spread Offense, which is something they know how to use, making them a double threat.
Game time: 4p.m. Saturday at Texas Stadium.

Todd Dodge Gets One More Year
Mean Green Football sucks right now. This is very unfortunate because I happen to be a Mean Green Football fan. This is a sad time in the annuls of Football at UNT, 1-11 for the 2009 campaign. However, it wasn't much of a campaign, it looked more like a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest.
The offense wasn't terrible, just awful.
The defense looked like a bunch of pansies getting blown over by a stiff breeze.
I was promised a wide open offense that would produce yards and touchdowns. I got more of that last year than this year. Teams are suppose to improve year over year aren't they? I guess the Mean Green forgot about this one.
Well it is time for Plan B. I don't know what that is because I don't claim to be a football know it all, but I can tell with something smells. The Mean Green smell like someone who fell into a big pile of it.
Here is a pretty good article from Brett Vito, Mean Green beat writer, about how to fix the problems.
On the Court...
We do seem to have a pretty decent basketball team this year up at the Super Pit, which is very nice. A 4-2 start on the season is not the best, but it's not that bad either. I cant wait for conference play. Another shot at the big dance would be nice.
